Types of Funeral Caskets
The word “casket” was firstly used
in the North America region for a box which is used to handle the
dead body after the death of someone. Basically, the casket is a box
with a rectangular share and the top of the box can be completely
open or maybe open in half. The purpose of the rectangular shape is
to match the human body and it normally has 6 to 8 sides. If the
caskets and coffins are compared to each other, the caskets are way
more famous than coffins. Making the choice of a right type of casket
is a very important aspect because the casket can be found in many
different types of material like wood, metal and glass etc. Here are
some of the common types for a funeral casket.
Hardwood Caskets:
The wood caskets are made of wood of
any type as it is obvious by their name. There are plenty of types of
wood available for the caskets including cedar, debris, oak, poplar
mahogany, walnut cherry and maple. The heavy and distinctive types of
wood like mahogany and walnut are more prominent in quality as
compared to pine. The price of the wood casket can differ according
to the type of wood you choose for the casket.
Lacquer Caskets:
This type of funeral caskets have a
very attractive look because of their finish. The topic layer of
these caskets is made by peeling of a thin layer of the wood onto a
more cheaper and common type of wood. The use of this type of caskets
is very common because they seem to be made of a very prominent type
of wood while only the upper layer of the caskets is made of high
quality wood.
Eco-accommodating Caskets:
As the name shows, these caskets are
made of naturally decomposing material which are very less harmful to
the nature. The material of these caskets is 100% biodegradable and
these can be the best choice for the people who want to have a nature
friendly funeral. Also, the price of this type of caskets is
comparatively low than other types of caskets.
Metal Caskets:
Metal caskets are the second most
popular and common choice after the wood caskets. These can be made
of any material like bronze, silver, steel and copper. The price and
size of these casket can also vary similarly to the wood caskets
depending on the type and quality of the material used in their
making.
Fiberglass caskets:
The fiberglass caskets are also a
preferable choice because they are very light-weight and have plenty
of options for customization. For example, the outside of the casket
can be painted with wood or metal pain accordingly.
Fabric Covered Caskets:
The fabric coated caskets are also a
favorable choice for the people who want to have a cheap funeral ceremony. The caskets are made of the low quality and normal cost
wood and the whole casket is covered by a layer of cloth. It hides
the material and increase the attractiveness of the casket.

Best Funeral Poems Ever! Part 2
As
I have said in my previous post, the funeral poems play a vital role
in the funeral ceremonies and are very important part of the funeral
arrangements. The selection of a good funeral poem is the key to
increase soulfulness of the funeral ceremony. Here is another couple
of awesome funeral poems from great writers.
Fear no more the heat o’ the
sun
Fear no more the heat o’ the sun,
Nor the furious winter’s rages;
Thou thy worldly task hast done,
Home art gone and ta’en thy wages:
Golden lads and girls all must,
As chimney-sweepers, come to dust.
Fear no more the frown o’ the great;
Thou art past the tyrant’s stroke;
Care no more to clothe and eat;
To thee the reed is as the oak;
The sceptre, learning, physic, must
All follow this and come to dust.
Fear no more the lightning-flash,
Nor the all-dreaded thunder-stone;
Fear not slander, censure rash;
Thou hast finish’d joy and moan;
All lovers young, all lovers must
Consign to thee and come to dust.
William Shakespeare (1564-1616)
If I should die
If I should die and leave you
Be not like the others, quick undone
Who keep long vigils by the silent
dust and weep. For my sake turn to life and smile
Nerving thy heart and trembling
hand to comfort weaker souls than thee.
Complete these unfinished tasks of mine
And I perchance may therein comfort thee.
Thomas Gray, poet, classical scholar and Cambridge don (1716 – 1771)
I thank the God, that I have lived
I thank thee God, that I have lived
In this great world and known its many joys:
The songs of birds, the strongest sweet scent of hay,
And cooling breezes in the secret dusk;
The flaming sunsets at the close of day,
Hills and the lovely, heather-covered moors;
Music at night, and the moonlight on the sea,
The beat of waves upon the rocky shore
And wild white spray, flung high in ecstasy;
The faithful eyes of dogs, and treasured books,
The love of Kin and fellowship of friends
And all that makes life dear and beautiful. I thank Thee too, that there has come to me
A little sorrow and sometimes defeat,
A little heartache and the loneliness
That comes with parting and the words ‘Good-bye';
Dawn breaking after weary hours of pain,
When I discovered that night’s gloom must yield
And morning light break through to me again.
Because of these and other blessings poured
Unasked upon my wondering head,
Because I know that there is yet to come
An even richer and more glorious life,
And most of all, because Thine only Son
Once sacrificed life’s loveliness for me,
I thank Thee, God, that I have lived.
Elizabeth Craven, writer and socialite (1750 – 1828)

very important in case if you want to plan a memorable funeral. Here are some
of the best funeral poems ever written.
No Longer Mourn for Me
No longer mourn for me when I am dead
Then you shall hear the surly sullen bell
Give warning to the world that I am fled
From this vile world, with vilest worms to dwell:
Nay, if you read this line, remember not
The hand that writ it; for I love you so
That I in your sweet thoughts would be forgot
If thinking on me then should make you woe.
O, if, I say, you look upon this verse
When I perhaps compounded am with clay,
Do not so much as my poor name rehearse.
But let your love even with my life decay,
Lest the wise world should look into your moan
And mock you with me after I am gone.
-William Shakespeare
Your
grief for what you've lost holds a mirror
Your grief for what you've lost
holds a mirror
up to where you're bravely working.
up to where you're bravely working.
Expecting the worst, you look and
instead,
here's the joyful face you've been wanting to see.
here's the joyful face you've been wanting to see.
Your hand opens and closes and opens
and closes.
If it were always a fist or always stretched open,
you would be paralyzed.
If it were always a fist or always stretched open,
you would be paralyzed.
Your deepest presence is in every
small contracting and expanding
the two as beautifully balanced and coordinated
the two as beautifully balanced and coordinated
-Jalal Uddin Rumi

What is a Funeral?
The meaning of the world funeral means celebrating and
remembering the life of a person who has died. The funeral and its customs vary
in different regions and religions of the world but mostly it refers to a
ceremony for paying the final respect and tribute to the person who has died. The
achievements and life cycle of the departed is recalled at his funeral and also
religious prayers, chanting and eulogies are also performed for a safe
afterlife journey of the deceased.
The funeral is normally held when a person dies of a natural
or accidental death and the family friends and colleagues of the person gather
at the ceremony to show their care and affection towards the deceased and show
their sympathy to the bereaved members of the family. However, there are few
regions of the world who also have the concept of pre-funeral. This concept
relates to organizing the funeral even before death. Most of the people consider
it foolish so it is not practiced in many regions.
There is no limited of time which is available to organize a
funeral. It is the choice of the family of the deceased when they want to
organize the ceremony. They may choose to do it after one day of death or they
may prefer the arrangement of funeral after a month. However, some of the
regions emphasis upon disposing off the human body within a day after death
such as Hinduism and Islam.
The funeral arrangements include the selection of casket for
the corpse, the place of burial and the flowers to be used for the decoration
of the funeral home. These services are all provided by the funeral homes. Before
funeral, a visitation can also be held which relates to the viewing of the body
and the funeral program is followed by either burial or cremation.
